This simple
way to draw is a kind of selfcare remedy for me. It enables me to escape this miserable
reality around us for a short period of time. When I immerse myself into the task
of drawing, I’m in stress free zone where I don’t have to worry anything, regret
done past mistakes or put up with tangles of challenging relationships. When I
draw, I’m unleashed from all of that and I’m completely free.

The sea
Meditative drawing is like a chain of numerous steps that leads the way towards peace and harmony. Beneath the monotonous surface of the drawing, a kind of living sea is revealed. And like the movements of the water meditative drawings are also soothing to watch. At least I hope that beholder can detect a little of that same peace I have experienced while executing these drawingsMonday, December 5, 2016
Meditative drawing, ink on paper
Details, ink on paper
This picture of the details shows how simple my way of drawing and working actually is. Just tiny dots or mark of ink beside each other. Few marks doesn't make a proper drawing but if I just keep on focusing details and drawing long enough, the process might end up to some very nice bigger drawing. This kind of working requires steadfastness and faith that all the trouble is worth of endure. Thursday, December 1, 2016
Meditative drawings at Kuopio, Finland
In last September I had an exhibition at Kuopio, east part of Finland, at Gallery G12. Just a small exhibition, but very nice gallery space in the center of this small country town. I have to say that these simplified drawings fit very well in white exhibition spaces like this.During last decade or even more I have been very lazy to do solo exhibitions and it was nice have one for a long time, even Kuopio is quite far away from Helsinki. To have exhibitions very often is not actually my kind of practice. I rather do artworks on commission basis than to do pile of works for some exhibition hoping someone to buy something. Luckily someone did at Kuopio. The big ink drawing beside of me is now hanging on the wall of a private home at Kuopio.
